Ah, well, I can’t say that it exactly feels “good” to be back, but here we are. As has been widely reported and tagged innovatively by my cohorts here at CubicleGM, I did, in fact, get married a few weeks ago. Good times had by all, I believe. And hencetoforth, I enter the state of being “married”; the full definition and implications of said state still in development. All I know is that for the last few weeks pretty much all of my old stuff has been conveniently discarded in our new apartment and I’ve done my best to oooh and aaah at kitchen items when I’ve got very little idea of what they actually do.
A very brief word on all of this… Let’s just say that I had an early reminder of how lucky I’ve been when we were sitting here:
And my wife – getting used to calling her that is a bit of a hurdle – decided that she definitely would prefer to watch the Home Run Derby, drink beer and have a cheeseburger than go to a $40/entree spot for dinner. To boot, the only channel the bar (different one than the one above) could get was ESPN Deportes, and she wanted to stay even though we had to watch the event in Spanish and without the benefit of witnessing Chris Berman’s exhausting microphone battle with Joe Morgan. In hindsight, I think that I actually preferred it that way. Of course, about every 10 minutes some genius had to approach the bartender and ask if any of the nine TVs could be switched to English (wow, we didn’t think of that!) only to find our collective conundrum. That said, I’d venture that you have found your match when she not only elects but actually recommends that you continue to watch sports and drink beer together instead of fleeing for the vanity of tablecloths and a generally overpriced and overdescribed dinner.
By way of clarification now that we’ve all come out of the closet at CubicleGM, I wrote previously as CAPS LOCK CARL. In the interest of putting our money where our mouths are and in the midst of the site’s growth, we decided to start using our real names when posting so that you can berate us personally. For a short background, I used to do a sports talk radio show in Virginia, wrote for a newspaper or two here and there, and woke up one day to find myself in a cubicle. You’ll hear a similar story from most of our team. In spite of all of this, I wanted somewhere to continue to share my thoughts on sports with a broader audience, and queue (cue?) CubicleGM.
I’ll keep it short for today, but needless to say, we’re all excited here about publishing top quality content on the site and interacting with anybody who may stumble upon us and find themselves somewhat engaged. Good, in that way at least, to be back.
